This week we continue our friendship theme in our whole group read alouds.
We will be working on the following skills:
- Comparing and contrasting books on a similar topic
- Summarizing a story with transition words (First, Next, Then, and Last)
- Short o
- Determining punctuation at the end of a sentence (period, exclamation point, and question mark)

Book in the Bags:
- Book in the Bags are due on Tuesdays and Fridays. If your child has a chapter book, your child may turn in and trade the book when he/she finishes the book.
TEAM Read:
We will also begin TEAM Read. This is the half hour block in our day where our entire class goes for reading. There are four teachers in the room. Our class is broken up into four groups to help meet students individual reading goals.
Rooted Mind:
- Our root for the week is the Latin root -scribe, -script (to write).
Math:
This week we will continue working on the following skills:
- organizing data and interpeting a graph
- understanding numbers up to 120 (what comes before and after, starting and any given number and continuing to count, and counting a set of objects and determining the numeral)
Science:
This week we will move on to our Plants Unit. We ran out of time last week to start the introduction.
Leader in Me:
This week we will be working on setting up classroom goals, personal goals, and how we can track our progress to reach our goals.
We will also introduce Habit 4. We will learn how we can work together, take turns, and compromise so everyone can reach their goals.
