Happy Dot Day!
We learned that we grow our brains when we try something new.
Students also made connections with not giving up, taking risks, and getting better at something with practice.
We enjoyed checking out books and reading in LMC.
Our Leader of the Week reported her experiences with the class pet, Gummy Bear!
Our Leader of the Week also brought in a book from home to read to the class.
Our class was in charge of creating math challenges for #gmttc1
(Global Math Twitter Task Challenge).
We were amazed to have first grade students from Deerfield, Aurora, Kansas, and Langeoog Germany answering our problems this week!
One student said it best, "It is like we are famous or something!"
Math Rotations!
We are working on understanding numbers up to 120.
In this activity, we are trying to find the match for the decade numbers (29/30, 59/60, 119/120).
In this activity, we had to count the tallies and write the number on our cool whiteboard table.
We will be using our pictures from our iPads for a project next week that you will see on Seesaw.
We made challenging puzzles where we had to recreate a 120 chart using our number knowledge.
We picked cards, determined a number, and found the number on the 120 chart.
We learned about a new app called Tenmarks.
Today we had two assignments to complete on comparing objects and non-standard measurement.
Information went home about how you can connect with your child's account to see how your child is doing on the specific skills.
This school year, we will be using Tenmarks as one of our activities for math assignments.
Our guest reader came in today to read the story, Benny's Pets.
