MAP Testing for 1st Grade will take place on May 11th and 12th for ELA and May 16th and 17th for MATH. Please make sure your child has working headphones. Thanks!
ELA:
This week we will continue to work on identifying the main idea and key details for informational (non-fiction) text. As we read, we are also asking and answering key questions for the text. Who? What? When? Where? Why? are some of the big questions we are looking to answer in the text.
Skills that we are working on and reviewing this week include the following:
- Capitalization
- Restating the question when we answer a question
- Revisiting pronouns
- Revisiting -ing and -ed endings (write = writing and hop = hopped)
MATH:
This week we will be revisiting many skills from throughout the year. We will be working at our "just right fit" on the following skills:
- Finding the missing number in an equation ( __ + 12 = 29)
- Place Value (identifying the value and the digit)
- Addition with/without regrouping and subtraction with/without borrowing
- Reviewing 2-D and 3-D shapes
Please remember to turn in your child's reading log next Monday... Thanks!
